Third Six Weeks- Week One

Photo I:

This week students in photo I are working on an assignment capturing objects in motion with slow shutter speeds so that the objects leave a ghosted trailer behind them. They are also having to deal with the motion concept of panning. Panning is when one tracks an object with the camera as the shutter release button is pushed while using a slow shutter speed. Students are working with the light meter in their cameras on manual setting and determining the correct aperture to match their shutter speed accordingly.

Students will need to use a slow shutter speed below 60th of a second. How slow the shutter should be depends on how fast the object is moving which they are trying to photograph.
